KTP at Gamescom
This year, Gamescom, the world’s largest videogames firm was held in Cologne from 14th to 17th August. Present at the German fair were representatives of the Kraków Technology Park (KTP), who promoted next year’s Digital Dragons. “The visit in Cologne was very fruitful”, Digital Dragons Coordinator, Mariusz Socha, remarked. “We succeeded in concluding important talks with potential partners of next year’s festival, and also got in touch with the first speakers.” This year, Cologne saw plenty of Polish studios among exhibitors, notably CD Projekt, Techland, CI Games, TopWare Interactive (Reality Pump),
Fuero Games, Flying Wild Hog, and Vivid Games. There was also the Polish national stand. It was organised by the Ministry of Economy as part of a programme for promoting the video games sector. “It is a very important initiative. We are glad to see the Ministry of Economy organising again business space for Polish developers, as this gives them an opportunity to promote their projects at such a significant event.” Mariusz Socha explained. The number of Polish companies included members of the Digital Entertainment Cluster managed by the KTP; present in Cologne to promote their achievements were Alvernia Studios, Solpeo, Nimbi Studios, and Tap It Games. This year’s Gamescom proved a great success. The organisers claim that, in 140,000 sq.m of space, they hosted 635 exhibitors from 40 countries, and the event was visited by approximately 335,000 people.
